A Little About Us……

We run a small family farm in Northern Chester County blending our love of plants and crafts to offer guests a unique workshop experience. Workshops are an opportunity to tap into and express your creativity, connect with nature, and bring a touch of our little farm's vibrant energy into your home. We strive to be a place of learning, acceptance, & education. Our activities support our natural human/plant connection and promote the importance of mental and physical health. Gardening, small farming, and participating in our agricultural crafting workshops offer so much more than meets the eye.

Your Workshop Hosts

Kara’s love of small farming is thanks to Aunt Helen & Uncle Forrie. Succulent & indoor plant care from Grammy. Crafting, art, small gardening & homesteading from her Mom.

Her husbands terminal cancer diagnosis during COVID inspired a family garden. Tending garden together supported healthier management of processing grief, importance of self care, & acceptance of our own human life cycle. (the life cycle of a plant parallels that of a human.) The time in the garden & greenhouse was therapeutic horticulture. A place where joy and grief found a way to peacefully coexist & inspired her new purpose in life.

Kara is also a Mom to kids with multiple unseen disabilities. She understands the social, emotional, & physical impacts families face raising a child who suffers challenges on the inside but “looks typical” to the outside world. Combining her love of gardening & crafting (and BIG push from her best friends) The Little Greenhouse Workshop was born and represents the sweet lemonade made from life’s big ole’ bag of sour lemons.

Kara has degrees in Applied Psychology & Organizational Behavior & Dental Hygiene April 2025-Certificate in Therapeutic Horticulture.

Meet Kara

Young Kara with Uncle Forrie

Abbey grew up on a small historic farm with her parents, five siblings, dogs, horses & her beloved chickens. Garden, animal care & homesteading skills were the norm. As a curious kid & skilled artist, she painted, sketched, and dug up buckets of buried “treasure” for art projects. Her treasure finds sparked curiosity of ancient culture & people. This art and digging later became a lab internship, field school accreditation & survey assistant applying anthropologic principles. She is now fluent in Spanish thanks to Dora the Explorer, curiosity for mankind, and language & culture studies. This combination serves her well as a small farmer & workshop co-host.

She applies her skills and knowledge gained from her farm adventures as a child, intimate experience supporting unseen disabilities, and the death of her Dad to applicable workshops. Today, Abbey’s is happiest when sharing with others the many ways plants, plant crafting & being in nature enriches lives and promotes physical and mental wellbeing.

Abbey has degrees in Anthropology and Spanish Language & Culture Minor in Latin American Studies Fluent in Spanish
